Worshipping God

The purpose of the Church’s year is continually
to rehearse her great history of memories,
to awaken the heart’s memory
so that it can discern the star of hope. – Pope Benedict XVI
The Catholic community of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and Newman Center centers its worship around the Eucharist, which is the "source and summit" of the Christian life. In the celebration of the Mass as a community of faith, we express our oneness with each another as the Body of Christ.
We experience Christ's healing presence through the sacrament of Reconciliation and find comfort in the Spirit during difficult times through spiritual direction and pastoral counseling.
The Catholic community of St. Lawrence-Newman seeks out the wayward and gives a home to the sojourner in faith as they come to know the presence of God in their lives. Likewise, we seek to equip our members the tools they need to further discover the love of God through prayer, worship, and service.
Key Moments of Worship
Sacraments As Catholics, key moments of our worship center around the 7 sacraments given to us by Jesus Christ.
Prayer and Worship Besides the 7 sacraments, we have a rich tradition of prayers and rituals to help us in our worship
Helping with our Worship
Liturgy is the "work of the people." We have church so we can worship together. But it takes everyone's participation and assistance. There are many ways you can help, depending on the gifts God has given you and how God calls you to help. Sometime to find that out, we need to just try and see.
