Volunteer Opportunities
Eternal life is not a life for the future.
By charity we start eternity right here below.– Cardinal Henri de Lubac
The greatest way you can help to enrich our community life is to
participate yourself in our community events. Rather than rush off after Mass, stay and meet some wonderful folks. Make friends. You'll eventually know them in heaven, so you might as well start early. Also consider coming to the events at St. Lawrence and joining one of the groups. It is through small faith communities that we really develop community and can help each other grow in faith.
Besides the groups, some additional ways to actively help enrich our community include:
Assist with Parish Social Events
We are always in need of folks to help with our varied social events If you do not have time to be part of a group, but still want to help when you can, just let us know so we can contact you when need arises.
Assist with Coffee and Donuts
One of our most important community life ministries is providing an atmosphere to enhances the socializing that happens after our Sunday Mass. For the 8am and 10am Masses, we provide coffee and donuts. If you would like to help with the setup or serving or clean up, please let our office know (612-331-7941).
Assist with Office Work
There always something special going on and to get the information out we are often needing assistance with office work. If you have always wanted to get to know your parish staff better, if you wanted to know how the church works, or if you just want to help, please let us know. Just contact Rebekah at 612-331-7941.
Assist with Maintenace and Clean Up Work
Each week on Wednesday morning, ladies from the Council of Catholic Women and some men help to clean up the interior of the church, straightening the hymnals in the pews, collecting any loose garbage, fixing up the candles, cleaning the Holy Water fonts, etc. If you'd would like to help, just show up Wednesday morning.
For major clean up the grounds, we have two clean up days throughout the year. Keep an eye on the bulletin and Mass announcements for them. It's a nice way to get some fresh air doing yardwork done for the church.
If you have any maintenance or repair skills, please consider sharing your talents and time, and let us know. We're always in need of some good volunteers. Please contact Greg at gweinand@umncatholic.org or 612-331-7941 x102
We have all known the long loneliness, and
we have learned the only solution is love,
and that love comes with community.
